Taking God Seriously

9-11-2016
In 1 Timothy 4:7-8 Paul says, “Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”  He says you must train yourself to be godly. In the Christian life, We step into the ring of life every day.  But before you step into the ring, you’ve got to prepare and train.
In this series we are talking about putting God first in everything.  The verses above give us a command.  The command is that we are to take God seriously. That is what godliness is.  To train in Godliness is the idea to make God the daily pursuit of our life and that we have a daily craving to be like Him.  We are to become more and more like Jesus Christ every day.  That means we need to train ourselves and be self-disciplined.  So how do we do this?  Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 10.
